Game fishing on the River Tâf for salmon, trout and sea trout

Beat descriptions
The section above the A40 consists of a meandering river with pools on most bends, but it is tree lined and fishes best on worm or spinner.

From the A40 to Whitland the river is more accessible for flyfishing, with numerous shallow runs. This stretch has several good salmon and sewin pools, and it also fishes well for brown trout.

Below Whitland the river is more open and suitable for all methods; this section contains a number of named pools known for holding salmon throughout the season.

Access
Access is from the A40, Whitland Church and, with the permission from the owner, Forest Farm. The fields are fairly easy walking, and most fishing is from the bank. One needs to know the river before wading as the depths vary from inches to many feet over short distances.
